So if you bought a fob online already, that's fine. Bring it when you call. I can pair it as long as it's the correct fob for your vehicle. Just know that the fob you buy online is unprogrammed and won't do anything until it's registered. The cut insert key inside the fob also needs to be cut to your vehicle. Both steps happen at the appointment.

One important reminder: bring every key you own to that appointment. Any key not present gets erased.

The sliding door buttons on my fob stopped working but the lock and unlock still function. Is the fob failing?

When lock and unlock still work fine but the sliding door buttons don't, the fob itself is usually not the problem. Start by checking the sliding door lock-out switch inside the vehicle, often located near the driver's door or on the dash depending on trim. If that's not engaged and the buttons still don't respond, the issue is more likely in the door's power sliding system or the body control module, not in the fob. A battery swap is still worth doing first since a marginal battery can cause the higher-power functions to drop out before the basic ones, but if a fresh CR2032 doesn't change anything, the fob probably isn't what needs replacing.
