2011 Toyota Sienna
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How do I know EZ Car Keyz is legitimate and not a bait-and-switch locksmith?

Scam locksmiths follow a pattern. Low quote on the phone, price doubles once you're stranded and they know it. Ask the person calling you back these two things: what is the total price for a 2011 Toyota Sienna smart key replacement, and what tool do you use to program it. A legitimate shop answers both without hesitation. A scam shop dodges. We give a real number over the phone before anyone drives to Simi Valley.

Q: Will the replacement fob work exactly like my original factory key?

Yes. A properly programmed replacement fob for the 2011 Sienna behaves the same way the original does. The vehicle's security system recognizes it, the engine starts, and the lock and unlock functions work. All six buttons get tested on site before I leave. I don't hand you a key and drive away hoping it works. You watch the test. If something is off, we deal with it right there.

Q: My 2011 Sienna starts fine but the sliding door buttons on the fob stopped working. Is the whole fob bad?

Not necessarily. On the 2011 Sienna, the lock and unlock functions and the other buttons on the fob run through the same remote receiver, but door-related functions also depend on the power sliding door module responding correctly. If the engine starts without issue and the lock and unlock buttons still work at normal range, the fob itself is probably fine. First thing to check: are the power sliding doors set to the off position on the dash switch?

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my 2011 Sienna. Can I program it myself?

No. The 2011 Sienna smart key system does not have a self-programming sequence you can run from the driver's seat. Registering a new fob requires a diagnostic tool connected to the OBD port. The fob you bought online is likely a valid aftermarket shell, but it still needs to be paired to your specific vehicle by someone with the right equipment. Bring it to the appointment and we can program it rather than supplying a new one.

2011 Toyota Sienna Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got the call from a parking lot off the 118 at 8 in the evening. A woman up in Big Sky, Simi Valley had just gotten her kid discharged from a children's hospital and was standing next to her 2011 Sienna with a fob that was doing nothing.

She had already tried holding the fob flat against the start button, which is the backup procedure Toyota builds in for exactly this situation. Nothing happened. The car just sat there. She had a tired, sick child in her arms and zero interest in troubleshooting. She needed to go home.

The dealer was closed.

When I got there I popped the fob open on the hood of the car. The CR2032 contacts had corrosion on them, the kind that builds up slowly over years until one day the key just quits mid-parking lot. The backup start procedure needs the antenna to read through the fob body, and corroded contacts killed that signal completely. New fob, programmed through the OBD port, every button tested, emergency insert key verified in the door lock. The whole thing took 45 minutes from her call to the engine running.

She didn't say much when she drove away. She didn't need to. She had her kid in the back seat and she was heading home. That's the job.

Toyota Sienna Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Are you licensed and insured to work on Toyota vehicles in California?▼

Yes. EZ Car Keyz is licensed through the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services and carries full liability insurance. We hold NASTF Vehicle Security Professional certification, which gives us authorized access to the security data and programming protocols required for vehicles like the 2011 Sienna. That credentialing matters because Toyota's smart key system requires manufacturer-level security access to register a new fob. Not every locksmith carries it, and without it, the programming simply cannot be completed correctly.
