2019 Toyota Sienna Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out along the Tapo Canyon Road corridor in Simi Valley, a guy flagged me down at a gas station. His 2019 Sienna was sitting at the pump, engine off, and the push-button start just kept flashing "Key Not Found" on the multi-info display. He had two HYQ14ADR fobs. Neither one worked.
He had already swapped the CR2032 in one of them. Still nothing.
I checked the second fob first. Dead battery, which was expected. But the first one, the one he had just put a fresh cell in, had the problem I see a lot on these 89904-08010 housings. The battery was in, but the contact clip on the board was bent just enough that it was making intermittent connection. The plastic catch that holds the back cover can torque that clip if you pry instead of slide.
Straightened the clip, cleaned both contact surfaces, reseated the CR2032. Then I tested the second fob with a new battery too. Walked the van, door by door. Driver handle touch-to-unlock, passenger side, sliding doors, liftgate release button on the fob, all six buttons accounted for. Push start fired clean.
He stood there for a second like he was waiting for it to fail again.
No programming needed. No new fobs. Just a small repair at a gas station on a Wednesday afternoon, for a fraction of what the dealer would have quoted to diagnose it.
