2017 Toyota Sienna Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Friday night in Simi Valley, close to Sycamore Square. A couple came out from a show and their 2017 Toyota Sienna was completely dead to both fobs. Doors would not respond to the handle touch sensor, push-button start showed "Key Not Detected" on the multi-info display. They were ready to leave the van overnight and deal with it Monday.
They searched "Toyota locksmith" and called me. I was 15 minutes out.
Both HYQ14ADR fobs had drained CR2032 batteries. That is the six-button version with lock, unlock, panic, power sliding doors on both sides, and liftgate. On these third-gen Siennas the fob broadcasts at 314.3 MHz and the car will just ignore it once the battery voltage drops low enough. No graceful degradation, just nothing.
I swapped both CR2032 cells and resynced the remotes using my VVDI Key Tool, which handles the Toyota H-chip transponder data and the remote frequency registration in one pass. Both fobs paired back to the smart key ECU (part number 89990-08060 on these Siennas) on the first cycle. Walked every button: lock, unlock, both sliding doors, liftgate, panic. Tested the push-button start and the handle touch unlock on driver and passenger side.
They drove home that night instead of figuring out a ride and leaving the van in a parking lot all weekend. The whole thing took less time than standing in a dealer service line.
