Her 2009 Sienna had one working transponder key, and she wanted a spare before something went wrong. Smart. I already knew from the VIN it was a base audio trim, no smart key system, just the 4D-67 chip in an 89785-08020 blank. I had the right one prepped in the van on the drive over.

No need to pull the immobilizer ECU or touch the 93C56 EEPROM. Cut the key by code using the VIN decode, tested it in the ignition, engine fired on the first turn.
Seventeen minutes, parking to handoff. She looked at the new key and then back at me like she was waiting for a catch.
No catch. She just had everything ready, had a working key on hand, and the add-a-key path is always the short one. The dealer would have had her drop the van off for half a day and charged a good chunk more for the same result.
