I was out in Nyeland Acres on a Tuesday afternoon when the call came in. Guy was parked near the Pep Boys on Oxnard Boulevard, sitting in the heat, and he'd already had a bad experience. He'd called one of those $59 Google ads a few weeks back. A locksmith showed up, charged him a number well north of what was quoted, and handed back a key that half-worked. Remote buttons were dead. Start was intermittent. He figured the locksmith had either used the wrong fob or rushed the programming sequence and called it done.

I ran the full registration sequence through the diagnostic port using the right equipment, cleared out the bad prior attempt, and enrolled the correct fob from scratch. Walked every button, confirmed the start, checked the door handle response on both sides. All six buttons came back clean.
The dealer had quoted him more than I charged, and the first locksmith had charged even more than that and left the job broken. He didn't say much when it was done. He just looked at the fob like he was checking whether it was real.
