Then I did what I always do: walked the perimeter, tested both front door handles, confirmed the start behavior, and checked range from a real distance.
That fixed about sixty percent of what he was describing. The remaining issue was that one of the fob buttons had a degraded response, a sign the board had seen some wear. We ended up doing a replacement fob, programmed on site through the diagnostic port. The old fob got erased from the system.
The whole job happened in his driveway. He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a number that made him pause. He didn't say much else about that part, and honestly, neither did I. The Tahoe started clean, all buttons confirmed, and he was done.
