I was working the Moorpark College Area on a Tuesday morning when the call came in. Guy had a 2005 Lexus IS, single key left, and the lock and unlock buttons had gotten unreliable enough that he was starting to not trust the key at all. His concern wasn't being locked out today. We did a fresh CR1616, confirmed that bought back some range, then went ahead and cut and programmed a backup key so he had two working units.
I tested every button on both keys, did multiple start cycles, and walked the locks on every door. Whole job, done on site, parked in front of his place. He mentioned the dealer quoted him considerably more and had told him to plan on leaving the car for most of a day. Neither of those things happened here.
