In Downtown Ventura, a guy lost his only fob somewhere between his boat and the parking area near the water. Thirty minutes of retracing steps. Nothing. His 2016 Lexus IS was locked up tight in the lot, and his first thought was to call a tow and wait on the dealer for a few days.

The door had to come first. I worked the lock mechanically, got it open, and decoded the blade positions from the lock itself. Cut a fresh emergency insert key to match. That part alone got him into the car and out of the sun.
Then the OBD connection, the all-keys-lost reset, and registering the new fob. That reset sequence has a countdown built into the procedure, so you just have to let it run. No shortcuts. When it finished, the new fob handled lock, unlock, and all four buttons cleanly. Walked every function before I called it done.
He drove out of that lot in the same session I arrived. No tow, no multi-day dealer wait. He mentioned the dealer had quoted him significantly more plus a towing charge on top. The difference was enough that he asked if I could make him a spare on the spot.
