Under the garage lights I ran the all-keys-lost reset through the OBD-II port, generated the DST-AES transponder with my VVDI Key Tool, cut the emergency insert blade, and registered the new HYQ14FBA to his smart key ECU. The whole thing took about 40 minutes because the security handshake on these has a timed countdown built in.
He drove home that night. The dealer was closed, would have needed a tow, and would have taken days. His VIN told me everything before I arrived.
