2021 Lexus IS Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out near Windsor North/River Ridge, a guy called me after his 2021 Lexus IS went completely dark on him in a parking lot. Fob was not detected at the door handles, the start button was doing nothing, and he had already tried the obvious stuff. He thought the car had a deeper electrical problem.

I asked him one thing before I drove out: when did he last swap the fob battery. He paused. Probably never.

When I got there, I had him hold the fob flat against the start button and push. The car came right on. CR2032 was so drained it could not reach the antenna in the door handles but still had just enough for the close-range coil pickup at the button. Classic pattern on these.

Swapped the battery on the spot. Walked every function: door handle touch unlock on both sides, lock button on the handles, all four fob buttons, and the start button with the fob in his pocket the way it should work. Everything came back.

He had been about to call a tow and go to the dealer. That would have been a long wait, a diagnostic fee, and probably a new fob he did not need. Sometimes the right answer is just a fresh CR2032 and someone who knows where to start.
