That was the setting when I pulled up to a 2007 Lexus IS parked in a driveway, owner standing next to it with the fob in her hand and a look that said she had already tried everything she could think of.

New fob programmed, emergency blade cut and verified against the lock. Then the part I do not skip: I walked the car. Lock, unlock, touch sensors on both door handles, every button on the fob, and three clean consecutive starts. She watched the whole test from the front step.
She had been quoted a dealer price that would have also meant towing the car in and waiting a couple of days. I did it in her driveway in under an hour, for a fraction of what they wanted.
