A guy pulled over on the shoulder just off the 101 near the Midtown neighborhood in Ventura. His 2014 Lexus IS, the blade half of his key snapped clean off inside the ignition cylinder. One piece in the slot, the other piece in his hand.
He had already called another locksmith who quoted him for a full ignition replacement over the phone. New cylinder, new keys, the whole teardown.
I got there and used my TOY43R Lishi to extract the broken fragment without touching the wafer surfaces inside the cylinder. No drilling, no prying, nothing that leaves a mark. Once the fragment was out, I decoded the lock right off the readings, cut a fresh TOY40 blade on site, and programmed the transponder through OBD. His remote was the HYQ14AAB, which was still working fine since it is a separate piece from the blade on this setup. He just needed the new mechanical key and chip registration.
The part that mattered to him: his original ignition cylinder still works with the new key exactly like it did before. Same lock, same feel, no replaced parts.
He kept looking at the ignition like he expected something to be different. Nothing was. That is the whole point of lock decoding. The car looks the same when I leave.
Saved him a good chunk over the destructive route the other shop was planning.
