Got a call from a guy over in Fremont North neighborhood in Oxnard. He had a 2005 Nissan Altima he drove to dialysis three times a week. His one and only remote head key was falling apart, the rubber buttons worn smooth, and the remote side had quit responding months ago. He was worried the whole key would give out and leave him stranded on a treatment day.
Getting to a dealer was its own problem. Twelve miles each way, plus the wait, plus arranging a ride back if they kept the car. On a dialysis schedule, that is not a minor ask.
I went out to the clinic that morning. His Altima used the standard NATS5 immobilizer with a DAT17 keyway, which is the edge-cut blade Nissan ran on these third-gen Altimas. I decoded the lock with my DAT17 Lishi, cut two fresh keys on site, and programmed the PCF7936 transponder chips through the OBD port. The BCM gave up its PIN without drama. Then I paired the CWTWB1U751 remotes, lock, unlock, trunk, panic, all four buttons on both keys.
He sat in the driver's seat and tested each button himself. Doors locked. Doors unlocked. Trunk popped. He just nodded, like a weight came off.
