2013 Nissan Altima
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How fast can you get to me in Nyeland Acres or the surrounding Oxnard area?

Call us and we will give you an honest window based on where we are that day. Because I am already mobile and working the area, response is usually faster than arranging a tow and a dealer drop-off. Dealer appointments for key work on the 2013 Altima are not walk-in friendly. The key itself may need to be ordered, a certified tech has to be available with the right diagnostic access, and the car often has to sit.

Q: Can I get a replacement key made today, same day?

In most cases, yes. I carry fob inventory and programming equipment for the 2013 Altima on the service vehicle. If your key is in stock and the schedule lines up, you can have a new Intelligent Key cut, programmed, and fully tested the same day you call. The dealer route for this fob often means ordering the part first, then scheduling the programming appointment separately.

Q: My 2013 Altima starts fine but the fob buttons stopped working for locks and the key-not-detected light comes on randomly. What is going on?

This is one of the more common complaints I see on 2013 Altima Intelligent Key setups, and it usually points in one of two directions. First direction: the fob itself. The button membrane on these fobs can degrade or trap moisture, which causes one button to register a ghost press continuously.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my 2013 Altima. Can I program it myself without a tool?

No. The 2013 Altima Intelligent Key does not have a self-programming sequence you can run from the driver's seat. Adding a new fob to this system requires diagnostic equipment connected to the OBD port. The fob you bought online is just hardware until it gets registered to your specific vehicle. Bring the fob to me and I can program it on site. You already saved money on the part. Let the tool do the rest.

2013 Nissan Altima Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

It was a Wednesday in tax season, which already tells you everything about the mood of the call.

A woman in Nyeland Acres, working out of her firm's lot in Oxnard, had a full afternoon of clients booked and a 2013 Nissan Altima that had decided the Intelligent Key no longer existed. Push-button start was completely dead. The dash was giving her a key-not-detected warning. She could not leave, could not arrange a tow during office hours, and was not interested in hearing that a dealer might see her Thursday if she was lucky.

I got there on my lunch window. The fob battery tested fine, so this was a registration issue, not a dead cell. I plugged into the OBD port, ran the key learning sequence through the diagnostic tool, and brought her fob back online. All five buttons confirmed working. Start confirmed. Doors confirmed.

She was back at her desk before her one o'clock client walked in.

The dealer comparison came up when she asked, almost as an afterthought. I told her what the dealer route usually looks like: calling ahead, scheduling days out, possibly a tow, waiting for a tech with the right access, then the bill at the end. She just nodded. The car never left the parking spot.

How long does a 2013 Nissan Altima Intelligent Key replacement take?▼

Most of the time, under an hour from when I pull up to when you have a tested, working key in your hand. An add-a-key job on the 2013 Altima, where you still have one working fob, goes faster because the system does not need a full reset. All-keys-lost takes a bit longer because the tool has to clear the existing key memory and run through a timed registration sequence before it will accept new fobs.
