Guy stepped off the Metrolink at the station near Rio Lindo neighborhood in Oxnard, walked to the commuter lot, and his 2011 Jeep Wrangler just sat there. Fob buttons did nothing. Doors locked, alarm armed, no response. He's a pharmaceutical rep, and his first sales call was 90 minutes out in another city. Missing that one means the whole route collapses.

He found me online and I got out there in about 40 minutes. First thing I noticed: the CR2032 in his OHT692427AA remote head key was toast. Completely flat. That killed the RF signal so the lock and unlock buttons were dead and the panic button was dead. But here's the part he didn't know. The transponder chip inside that key head still works without battery power. He could have used the physical blade to unlock the door and turn the ignition. Nobody reads the manual on that.
I popped a fresh CR2032 in, opened the Jeep, plugged my IM608 into the OBD port under the dash, and confirmed the key was still registered to his WIN module. No reprogramming needed. Tested all four buttons, cycled the locks, verified the transponder handshake with the immobilizer. Everything clean.
Gave him a spare CR2032 for the glovebox. He made his first call that morning. The whole visit took less time than he spent on hold with the dealership.
