2013 Jeep Wrangler Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Saturday morning in Oxnard, over near the Pleasant Valley area. A bakery owner with a 2013 Jeep Wrangler had just finished setting up her farmers market booth when she walked back to her Jeep and got nothing. Lock button, unlock button, nothing from any of the four. She put the FOBIK in the ignition barrel and turned it. Dead start. No crank, no dash lights beyond the red security indicator holding steady, which on these JKs means the WIN module is not seeing a valid transponder signal.
Dealer was closed until Monday. Her product was already on the table. Her booth was up. She called around and I was the one who picked up.
I got to her lot in about 40 minutes. Tested her OHT692427AA first. The CR2032 was flat, but swapping in a fresh cell still gave her a steady red security light on start attempts. The transponder chip had lost its handshake with the Wrangler's WIN (Wireless Ignition Node) module. A simple battery change was not going to bring it back.
I built a new FOBIK from stock, programmed the transponder and remote through OBD with my VVDI, and tested all four buttons plus ignition start. Lock, unlock, hatch, panic, clean crank every time.
She finished the market and drove home same morning. No Monday dealer trip, no tow, no waiting on a VIN-ordered fob. Just a working key, on site, for a fraction of what the dealership would have quoted.
