A guy over in Bolker Park in Port Hueneme had just picked up a 2010 Toyota Highlander off Craigslist. Good shape, fair price, one smart key. The seller told him to get a spare on his own. He figured it would be easy.

The part that matters and nobody talks about: I tested the touch-to-unlock on both front door handles, the push-button start from both fob distances, and ran every button on both fobs side by side. Hatch release, lock, unlock, panic. Both fobs responded the same.
He stood there holding two working smart keys and just said, "That's it?" That's it. And now if he ever loses one, the next job is an add-a-key instead of an all-keys-lost reset, which saves him a good chunk down the road.
