A renter over in the Ojai Arcade area called me about his 2016 Highlander. He had one working smart key and wanted a spare before something happened to it. He had already called the dealer. They told him to bring the vehicle in, leave it, and expect a couple of days because the parts counter had to order the fob and a master tech had to be available for programming. That timeline alone killed it for him.
I parked at his building and used my TOY43 Lishi to decode his driver door lock. The TOY43 reads the wafer positions inside the cylinder so I can cut an exact emergency blade without needing the original as a template. His fob was the HYQ14FBA, 4-button proximity key with the H-chip transponder inside.
Cut the emergency insert blade, connected to the OBD-II port, and registered the new fob to his immobilizer. The system runs a timed seed-key handshake during registration, so there is a built-in wait. Total job ran about 35 minutes.
Then the part I don't skip: testing every function. Lock, unlock, panic, hatch release, push-button start, walk-away auto lock. I also checked that his original fob still worked clean alongside the new one.
He kept his car the whole time. Never left his parking spot. Paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted and got it done same day instead of waiting around for a parts order.
