People lose all their Toyota keys more often than you'd guess. The most common story is simple. They bought the car used with one key, always meant to get a spare, and years later that one key finally breaks.

A woman up near Pole Creek Trail in Fillmore had exactly that happen to her 2002 Sequoia. The key shell cracked at the housing and the blade snapped clean off in the driver door lock. I extracted the blade fragment from the lock, decoded the wafers, and cut two fresh TOY43 keys with cloned 4C chips.

She went from zero keys to two in about 40 minutes. Dealer quoted her a tow plus a wait for parts since they don't stock these older transponder blanks anymore. She would have been without the truck for days. Instead she drove to pick up her kid from school that afternoon.

If you still have the broken key pieces, bring them. The chip inside a cracked housing is usually fine and makes the whole job faster.
