2010 Toyota Sequoia Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A renter over in Ellwood called me on a Tuesday morning. He had one working remote for his 2010 Sequoia and wanted a spare made before anything happened to it. Smart thinking. He'd already called the Toyota dealer and gotten a quote that made him pause, so he went looking for another option and found me.
I pulled up to his complex and got to work. First thing I did was decode the door lock cylinder to get the correct cut for the blade without needing the original key as a reference. The Sequoia has a mechanical blade built into the remote, and that blade has to be right or the door and ignition won't turn. Once I had the cut data, I cut the blade on site.
Then I connected to the OBD port and registered the new remote to the vehicle's security system. The whole visit, from parking to handing him a working spare, was about 35 minutes.
He told me the dealer quote was for the key plus programming, and he'd still have had to arrange a way to get the truck there since his one working fob was getting unreliable. With me he didn't move the truck at all. The job came out to a fraction of what the dealer wanted, done in his parking lot while he waited.
