A renter at an apartment complex in Goleta over by San Jose Creek called me about his 2010 Sequoia. He had one working remote and wanted a spare before he was down to zero. The dealer had already quoted him, and it was enough to make him start searching for other options. That is how most people find me.
I parked at his building and got to work. His key uses the TOY43 keyway, so I ran my Lishi pick and decode tool through his door lock to read the wafer positions. Ten cuts on the blade, each one mapped from the lock itself. No original needed as a reference.
The transponder side is a 4D-67 chip. Programming goes through the OBD port, and the immobilizer ECU on these second-gen Sequoias accepts new keys when you already have a working master present. Whole process took about 35 minutes, including cutting the blade and verifying all four remote buttons: lock, unlock, panic, hatch release.
He watched me do the whole thing from his parking spot. When both remotes locked and unlocked the doors back to back, he just nodded and said he wished he had done it sooner. His old key had been the only copy for over two years.
