2004 Toyota Sequoia Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call around 9pm from a guy in the Fillmore Towne Theatre neighborhood of Fillmore. His 2004 Sequoia was sitting in the driveway and he had zero working keys. The original spare went missing a year ago and then his daily key snapped off inside the ignition cylinder that afternoon. He got the broken piece out with needle-nose pliers, but now he had a key blade with no bow and a remote fob with no way to start the truck.
He had already called the dealer. They told him to tow it in and leave it, could be a couple days. He was not excited about that plan.
I pulled up, set my tools on the passenger seat, and got to work. The 04 Sequoia runs the 4D-67 transponder through the immobilizer ECU, board number 89780-0C050 on most first-gen models. I connected through the OBD-II port, read the existing key data, and registered a fresh 4D-67 transponder chip to the vehicle. Cut the new key on site using the key code pulled from the lock. Then I paired his HYQ12BBX remote back up so he had full lock, unlock, panic, and rear hatch function on all four buttons.
He sat on his porch the whole time, just watching. When the engine turned over on the first crank, he nodded once like he had been holding his breath. Whole thing was done in about 25 minutes, and he never left his own driveway.
