2021 Toyota Sequoia Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
He parked at the Oxnard Airport on a Tuesday, flew out for a week, and came back to a fob that was completely dead. The 2021 Sequoia just sat there. No response to any button, no door unlock, nothing.
He had the emergency insert key, but it was packed in his checked bag, which was still on the carousel. By the time he got the bag and dug out the key, he'd already called the dealer. Thursday was the earliest they could see him. It was Tuesday afternoon.
He found me through a search and called. I was at the lot in about 40 minutes.
The fob battery was the whole story. CR1632, fully dead. I swapped it out, reseated it correctly, and walked every button and both door handles to confirm the system was reading the fob cleanly. The touch-unlock sensors on both front handles responded the way they should, the start button saw the fob, everything checked out. No registration issue, no fault that needed clearing, just a dead cell that had been sitting in a parking lot for a week in the heat.
He was driving home before the shuttle back to the terminal would have even been worth catching. No tow, no Thursday appointment, no queue. He also left with a spare CR1632 in his glovebox so the next dead battery doesn't become a whole ordeal.
The dealer comparison was almost an afterthought by the time we were done. It came up for about ten seconds, he did the math in his head, and he moved on.
