I got a call from a woman staying at a rental in Fillmore, over in the Heritage Valley area. She had her only fob with her, no spare at home, and the remote had stopped responding to anything. Cut the blade to match her ignition while the programming completed. Walked every button, confirmed range in the parking area, done.
She asked what would have happened if she had just put a battery in the new fob and tried to use it. I told her it would have done nothing. A fob that has not been programmed to the car is just a plastic shell. That part always surprises people.
She was back in business in under 45 minutes. The dealer had told her to bring it in the next day and quoted her well above what she paid me.
