2006 Toyota Sequoia Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A woman staying at an Airbnb out in Fillmore, Sespe Creek area, called me after her only working key stopped turning over the engine. The 2006 Sequoia would crank all day but the immobilizer killed it every time. Security light on the dash just kept blinking. The dealer told her to have it towed in and they could fit her in the next afternoon.
I drove out that evening. Her key had the correct TOY43 blade and it turned the ignition fine, but the 4D-67 transponder chip inside the bow wasn't getting read. The amplifier ring around the ignition cylinder was picking up nothing. I checked the chip with my VVDI Key Tool and it was dead. No response at all.
Cut a new TOY43 blade in the van using the original as a reference, then programmed a fresh 4D-67 chip through the OBD-II port. The 2006 Sequoia runs Toyota's older immobilizer system, so registration takes about 20 minutes with the timed security countdown built into the procedure.
While I was there she handed me the HYQ12BBX remote. Lock button had gone intermittent. Popped it open and the CR2032 contacts had a film of green corrosion. Cleaned them, fresh battery, tested all four buttons from 30 feet.
She sat on the porch watching me work under the dome light. When the engine caught and held on the first turn, she just quietly said "oh thank god" and sat back in her chair. That was the whole reaction. Sometimes that's all it is.
