2017 Toyota Sequoia Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy in Cathedral Oaks reached out on a Tuesday afternoon. He had one working key for his 2017 Sequoia and his wife had been on him for months to get a spare cut before something happened. He finally called the dealer to get a price, heard the number, and then went looking for another option.
He had the Sequoia parked at his place off Cathedral Oaks Road. I pulled up, confirmed the VIN off the door jamb, and decoded the lock cylinder to get his key cut exactly right without needing the original as a copy reference. Reading the wafer positions directly means the cut is based on the actual lock, not whatever the previous owner's key might have worn into over time.
I cut the blade, programmed the new remote head key through the OBD port, and tested all four buttons. Lock, unlock, and the other two. Walked every door. Confirmed the key turned the ignition. Whole thing was done in about 35 minutes in his parking lot.
He paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted. Same fob. Same transponder chip enrolled to his specific vehicle. Same result. He just didn't have to tow anything or sit in a waiting room or borrow a car to get home while the Sequoia stayed overnight in a dealer service bay.
His wife texted him a thumbs up when he sent her a photo of two working keys. That part had nothing to do with me, but it was a good ending.
