In Oxnard, over in College Park, she had just left urgent care with her kid buckled in the back and a bag of prescriptions on the seat. Her 2005 Chevrolet Colorado sat in the parking lot doing nothing when she hit the remote. No click from the doors. No lights. The L2C0007T was completely dead.

Then I popped the back off the L2C0007T and the CR2032 was corroded at one contact. The little spring terminal had greenish buildup from a battery that had been leaking for a while. Cleaned the contacts, dropped in a fresh CR2032, and tested lock, unlock, and panic from 30 feet.
I also walked her through what to do if the remote ever died again: just use the key blade, turn the ignition, and drive. No backup procedure needed because there's no smart system to bypass.
From her call to everything working was about 35 minutes. She made the pharmacy with time to spare.
