2024 Chevrolet Colorado Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy in Juanamaria, Ventura picked up a used 2024 Colorado from a small independent lot. One key, good truck, lot told him to sort out a spare on his own. He figured he would swing by a hardware store and get it duped.
He called me after the hardware store told him they could not help. Then he called the dealer. The dealer quoted him a number that made him call me back with a single question: "Is that real?"
It was real. The 2024 Colorado remote key is not a simple cut-and-go job. The remote functions need to be synced to the vehicle with the right equipment, and that has to happen at the truck. I told him I could meet him in Juanamaria, do the whole job on site, and come out well under the dealer number.
I pulled up to the lot, verified the VIN, checked his ID and registration, and got to work. The factory fob for this truck takes a CR2450, which I carry in stock because getting that wrong causes headaches later. Cut the blade to match his existing key, synced the remote functions through the OBD port, tested lock, unlock, and the third button from across the parking lot.
Both keys worked. He tested them himself before I closed the case back up. He drove off with a spare he actually trusted, for a fraction of what the dealer wanted. That spare also matters down the road. If he ever loses one, it is an add-a-key job. If he had walked away with one key and lost it, he would be back to all-keys-lost territory, which is a longer and pricier process.
The lot should have told him that on day one.
