2009 Chevrolet Traverse
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2009 Chevrolet Traverse Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A woman in the J Street Corridor neighborhood of Port Hueneme had one key left. Her second one had gone missing months back and she had been running on the single original ever since, which is one fumble away from a very bad day.

She had already called the dealer. The appointment was a week out, they wanted her to bring the car in, and the quote was enough that she asked me if I could beat it before she even told me the number. She found me through a search, read a few things on the page, and decided to try.

I met her at her place, right off J Street. She handed me the original key, which was worn but still reading cleanly. That matters because an existing working key makes the add-a-key process faster. I decoded the cut on the original, duplicated the blade on a new key blank, and used the OBD port under the dash to program the transponder chip in the new key to the vehicle's immobilizer. The whole process on-site, with one working key already in hand, ran well under half an hour.

She tested it herself. Turned it in the door lock, turned it in the ignition, car started and stayed running. No warning lights, no stall. She had a backup key before noon and the car never left her driveway.

That is the part that gets people. The car does not move, the tools come to you, and the result is the same as any dealer bay.
