2014 Chevrolet Traverse Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from a guy near the Ojai Certified Farmers' Market. His 2014 Traverse was sitting in a lot and the key had snapped right at the blade fold, half the blade stuck in the ignition, the other half still in the flip shell. He had already called two dealerships. One quoted him days of wait time for parts. The other told him to tow it in.
I parked on the street and walked over with my bag. First thing was extracting the broken blade piece from the ignition cylinder. Came out clean, no damage to the wafers. Then I pulled his OHT01060512 flip key apart on the hood so he could see the internals. The ID46 transponder chip was fine, just sitting in its little pocket inside the key head, totally separate from the break.
I cut a fresh B111 blade on my machine, built it into a new flip shell, and transferred his original ID46 chip over. The PK3+ immobilizer accepted it on the first turn because the chip data matched what was already stored in the body control module. No programming needed at all for the transponder side. I did re-pair the remote buttons through the VVDI2 just to make sure lock, unlock, hatch, and panic all responded.
Whole thing took about 25 minutes. He watched the farmers' market set up across the way while I worked. No tow, no wait list, no dealer trip.
