2024 Chevrolet Traverse Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Called out to Harvard Boulevard area in Santa Paula for a 2024 Traverse that wouldn't recognize its only key. The owner had just finished loading camping gear when the dash hit her with "No Remote Detected."
The HYQ4ES fob would still lock and unlock, but push-to-start was dead. She tried the backup slot in the cupholder. Nothing. Her husband was already at the campsite with the kids, waiting.
I checked the fob first. CR2032 tested at 2.8V, which should work, but these BCM2 systems get picky around 2.9V. Fresh battery brought it to 3.1V. Still no recognition. Connected my Autel to check for codes and found U0322 stored in the BCM.
The fix wasn't the battery. The BCM needed a key relearn cycle after losing sync with the fob. Five minutes through the diagnostic port, cleared the code, ran the relearn. The Traverse fired right up.
She asked about getting a spare while I was there. Smart move. Programmed a second HYQ4ES, tested both fobs through full range, made sure the backup start slot recognized both. One hour total, and she made it to the campground before dark. Dealer would've kept the car overnight just for diagnostics.
