Got a call from Old Town Goleta area, a woman at one of the office parks off Hollister. Her 2018 Traverse, no spare key, and the only fob she had just stopped working mid-day. Push button did nothing. DIC screen read "No Remote Detected." She tried holding the fob against the start button, which is the backup method GM describes in the owner's manual, and it still would not turn over.

She had already called the Chevy dealer. They told her the car had to come in on a flatbed, and the fob alone was north of what she expected before programming labor even entered the conversation. She could not leave work.

I drove out during her lunch break. Plugged my IM608 II into the OBD port under the dash, ran the IMMO read on the body control module (Continental A2C module, common on these), and confirmed the vehicle's PEPs profile. Cut the emergency insert blade, programmed the new HYQ4EA, and ran the proximity detection walk-around: driver handle, passenger handle, liftgate button, push-button start from every seat position.

The whole thing took about 35 minutes. She sat in the break room for most of it.

When I handed her the new fob, she just held both keys side by side for a second, like she was making sure one was real. No tow, no lost afternoon, and a good chunk less than the dealer quoted.
