A woman at the Target near Camino Real Marketplace in Goleta flagged me down in the lot. Not literally, she had already called, but she was standing next to her 2016 Chevrolet Traverse waving her phone like I might drive past her.

I pulled the VVDI Key Tool and an OHT01060512 remote head blank out of my kit. Cut the key blade to her door lock right there using a Lishi HU100 pick/decoder. Then I connected through the OBD-II port under the dash and ran the security access procedure on the body control module. The Hitag2 ID46 chip registered on the first pass. Whole thing, cut to programmed to tested, took about 25 minutes.
Lock, unlock, trunk release. All three buttons on the new remote head key responded clean. She cycled the ignition twice just to watch it start without complaint.
The part that mattered to her wasn't the technical side. It was that she did it over a lunch break in a parking lot she was already at. No appointment, no drop-off, no waiting on a dealer parts counter to order in a blank they should already stock.
