Got a call from a guy out near Ojai Meadows Preserve. He had just flown back into town, took the shuttle to his car, and his 2010 Chevrolet Traverse was sitting there not responding to anything. Lock button, nothing. Unlock, dead. Doors locked, key in his hand, and the flip remote just clicking into the void.

I was out there within the hour. Got the door open, popped the flip key housing on the hood, and there it was. The CR1616 had gone completely flat. Looked like it had been the original battery from years back. I dropped in a fresh cell, but the remote still wasn't talking to the body control module on the first try. Connected my programmer to the OBD-II port, confirmed both his keys were still learned in the PK3+ system, cleared the stored DTC, and resynced the remote functions.
Tested lock, unlock, and hatch release. Walked around the vehicle hitting every door. Started it twice to make sure the transponder handshake was clean. He just stood there watching the doors lock and unlock like he forgot what that looked like.
He drove home to Ojai that same afternoon. The dealer would have been days of waiting and a tow bill on top. This was one battery and about 30 minutes of his time.
