2023 Chevrolet Traverse
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2023 Chevrolet Traverse Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was already running East Santa Paula calls on a Saturday night when the message came in. A couple had walked out of the bowling alley near the neighborhood and both fobs on their 2023 Traverse had gone quiet at the same time. Nothing. No door response, no lights, no acknowledgment from the car at all. They'd already decided they were leaving it overnight and dealing with the dealer Monday.

Then one of them searched for a Chevy locksmith and found me. I was about fifteen minutes out.

When I pulled up, they were standing in the lot looking at the car like it owed them an apology. Both fobs had the same symptom: dead CR2032 cells. That happens more often than people expect when a car has two fobs that were purchased and put into service at the same time. The batteries age together and fail close together.

I swapped both cells on site, re-synced the fobs to the vehicle using my diagnostic equipment, and then walked every function before I put my tools away. Push-button start, lock, unlock, and all five buttons on each fob. Both came back clean on the first pass.

She told me she'd been dreading the idea of leaving the car in that lot all weekend. They drove home that night. The dealer would have been a longer wait, a Monday appointment, and a bigger bill. When the parts are already in the van, a Saturday night call is no different from a Tuesday morning one.
