He was at the taco shop in Downtown Carpinteria and his backpack was gone. Someone grabbed it from the booth while he was at the counter. Wallet, phone, keys, all of it. He borrowed the cashier's phone, called the police first, then his girlfriend, then me.

I decoded the lock on site, cut two new keys to match, and rekeyed the door locks so the stolen key would no longer turn them. Both keys worked before the police had even called him back.
He drove home that night. The dealer route would have cost him a tow, days without the car, and considerably more money. The stolen key is now useless on every lock on that car.
