2020 Chevrolet Impala
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How fast can you get to me in South Winds, Oxnard?

Usually within 30 minutes of your call, depending on where I am when you reach me. The tools, the key blanks, the programming equipment, and the cutting machine are all in the van. There is no trip back to a shop, no waiting for parts to arrive, and no service bay queue. Call and I can give you a real ETA on the spot.

Q: Can I get a replacement key made today, same day?

Yes, that is the standard, not the exception. I stock the flip key blanks and fob shells for the 2020 Impala and carry the programming equipment in the van at all times. Owners who go the dealer route sometimes wait days for the fob to come in, then have to schedule a second appointment for programming. That is two trips and a wait. I do it in one visit, on your schedule, at your location in South Winds.

Q: My 2020 Impala starts fine but the remote buttons stopped working. Do I need a whole new key?

Not necessarily. On the remote flip key, the ignition function and the remote entry buttons run independently of each other. If the car starts but lock and unlock are dead, the first thing to check is the CR2032 battery inside the fob. A low battery can kill the remote signal well before it affects anything else. If a fresh CR2032 does not bring the buttons back, the next step is checking the contact points inside the shell.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my 2020 Impala. Can I program it myself?

No. The 2020 Impala does not have an onboard self-programming sequence for the remote flip key. Registering a new fob to the vehicle requires a professional scan tool connected to the OBD port. The fob you bought online is just hardware until it gets programmed, so you still need someone with the right equipment. Bring the fob and I will do the programming at your location.

2020 Chevrolet Impala Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

South Winds in Oxnard has that mix of tight townhouse lots and covered assigned spots where a tow truck just does not fit. I already knew that before the call came in.

The owner had one key, used it daily, and one morning it would not turn the remote functions on anymore. The flip blade still turned the ignition, so he could drive, but the lock and unlock buttons were dead and he wanted a working spare cut and programmed before he ended up locked out completely. Smart thinking.

He texted me his address and I parked on the street because there was no way I was squeezing my van through that complex entrance with the low clearance overhang. Walked in with the bag.

The original fob checked out fine once I cracked it open on the hood of his Impala. CR2032 was reading low on my tester, not dead but not strong either. Swapped it, confirmed the buttons fired, then got to work on the spare. I pulled a matching flip key blank, cut the blade to match the existing key using my cutter, built the shell, and ran the programming sequence through the OBD port to add the new fob to the vehicle alongside the original. Both keys enrolled, both remotes tested, lock and unlock confirmed on all doors.

He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a wait and a number that made him pause. He called me instead and had a spare in hand before lunch. The car never left his spot. That is the whole point of a mobile setup.

How long does a 2020 Chevrolet Impala key replacement take?▼

Add-a-key on a 2020 Impala typically runs 20 to 35 minutes on site. I cut the blade, build the flip shell, and run the fob through the OBD port to register it. The vehicle security system has a timed security access window built into the programming sequence, so you cannot rush that part, but it is not a long wait. All-keys-lost is a different job.
