Got a call from a woman near the Santa Barbara Museum of Art who was on her lunch break and locked out of options. Her 2018 Impala had one working flip key left, and the second one had been missing for about six months. She finally decided to deal with it.

I pulled up, confirmed the VIN off the dash, and matched it to the OHT01060512 five-button flip key. Cut the GM45 blade on my mobile unit, then plugged the Autel into the OBD port under the steering column. The PEP2 system on these tenth-gen Impalas walks through a security relearn once the new ID46 transponder gets added. Programmed the transponder, synced the remote and the remote start, then tested every button including the trunk release.
She clicked the remote start from about 30 feet away and watched the engine turn over. Then she just nodded like she had checked something off a list.
Whole thing took maybe 20 minutes. She still had time to eat.
