2019 Chevrolet Impala Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from a guy near Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara. He was parked in the garage between appointments and his 2019 Chevrolet Impala would not turn over. Key went into the ignition fine, but the engine cranked and quit immediately. DIC was showing "Service Theft Deterrent System." He tried the second key. Same thing.
He sounded like he had already resigned himself to a tow.
I told him to sit tight. Drove out to the garage and met him at the car. Popped his flip key open on the trunk lid and the CR2032 was original, dated 2018 on the wrapper. Three years old and barely registering on my tester. The second key was the same. Both fobs were broadcasting too weak for the PEPs antenna ring around the ignition to read the ID46 transponder handshake reliably.
Fresh CR2032 in each fob, reseated the battery clips, closed them up. First key started the car clean. Second key, same. I walked him through the ten-minute security relearn just in case the BCM had logged a fault, but it cleared on its own once both keys were reading strong again.
He thought he needed a tow and a dealer visit. What he needed was two coin batteries and someone who knew where to look. The whole thing took less time than his next appointment.

“My car keys were stolen on a cold evening and Nick drove all the way out to Santa Barbara. He got into my car, made a new key, and charged $100 less than another company. Friendly, skilled, trustworthy, and genuinely caring. Nick is a hero.”
“Tim is a hero. He programmed a master proximity key for a newer Volkswagen that multiple locksmiths refused to touch. He spent hours until late at night making sure every function worked perfectly. The skill level here is incredible.”
“Very professional and extremely affordable. The price was literally about three times cheaper than what my dealership quoted me. Fast service and no stress at all. Highly recommend.”
