2006 Chevrolet Impala
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2006 Chevrolet Impala Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

It was about 5:50 in the morning when my phone rang. A guy working a warehouse shift in Carpinteria, right near Sandyland Cove, had snapped the blade off in his ignition. Not cracked. Snapped clean. His shift started at 6 and he could hear his foreman already outside.

I had the van loaded and was rolling before he even hung up. Twenty minutes to get there.

The broken blade was seated in the ignition cylinder. I used a Lishi tool to extract the piece and decode the lock at the same time, which saves a step. Once I had the cut data, I made a new key on the spot, programmed the transponder chip so the immobilizer would accept it, and tested it twice in the ignition before I handed it over. I also cut him a second key and put it in an envelope for the glovebox. Losing your only key at 5:45 in the morning is a one-time lesson most people only need once.

He clocked in at 6:30. He texted me that afternoon. Nothing dramatic, just "thanks man." That's the kind of call that sticks with you, not because it was complicated, but because the timing actually mattered and I got there fast enough to change the outcome.

The dealer would have meant a tow, a wait for the service bay to open, and most of a workday gone. What he paid me was a fraction of that, and he made his shift.
