1999 Ford Expedition Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got a call from a guy over on Surfside Drive in Port Hueneme. His 1999 Expedition was sitting in the driveway with one key that barely worked. The rubber on the CWTWB1U331 remote was cracked down the middle, buttons mushy, and the blade was so worn the wafers in the ignition fought him every morning. He said he'd been wiggling it for months.

I showed up and pulled the old key out of his hand. The blade was visibly rounded on the cuts, which is why the ignition felt sticky. The 4C transponder chip inside the key head still read fine, so the immobilizer side was healthy. The remote was a different story. Battery contacts inside were corroded from a leaking CR2032 that had been left in too long.

Cut a fresh H75 blade to factory spec on my machine, programmed a new 4C transponder through the OBD-II port using the two-key PATS procedure, and set up a new CWTWB1U331 remote. Tested all four buttons from thirty feet away. Lock, unlock, panic, rear glass. Then started the truck three times cold to make sure PATS accepted the new chip without the theft light blinking.

He turned the ignition and just sat there for a second. Smooth turn, no wiggle. He looked at the old key on the hood and said he should have called six months ago.

Whole thing took about 25 minutes in his driveway. The dealer would have needed the truck on their lot and a lot more of his afternoon.
