Got a call from a woman near Ventura Music Hall whose 2013 Expedition key was falling apart in her hand. The shell had cracked right at the blade pivot, and she was holding the two halves together with a rubber band just to keep driving.
She had already been to the dealer. They quoted her for a full new key, cut and programmed, and told her it would take three to five business days because the blank had to be ordered. She drove home with the rubber band still on it.
When I got to her, the FCC ID on the board was OUC6000022, part number 164-R8000. I popped the old shell open on her hood and showed her the internals. The circuit board was clean, the transponder chip was fine, the button contacts looked good. Nothing wrong with the guts at all. She just needed a new house for them.
I swapped the electronics into a fresh shell, cut a new HU101 blade to match her existing key using my Lishi, and tested every button: lock, unlock, trunk, panic, remote start. Then I walked around the truck checking range from all four sides.
She stood there turning the new key over in her hand like she was waiting for the catch.
No catch. The chip was the same one her truck already trusted. The PATS module never knew anything changed. She got a solid key again and a spare cut for a fraction of what the dealer wanted, done in her driveway in about 25 minutes.
