2006 Ford Expedition Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A woman over in Victoria Estates called me about her 2006 Expedition. The shell on her remote head key had cracked along the pivot and the whole thing was barely holding together. She'd already been to the dealer.

They told her she needed a full replacement key, cut and programmed, the whole package. What they didn't mention was that the electronics inside her cracked shell were completely fine. The chip was reading, the remote was transmitting. The only problem was the plastic.

I pulled up to her driveway with replacement shells and my cutting setup. We popped the old circuit board out of the cracked housing and seated it into the new shell, checked the battery contacts, verified the CR2032 was seated correctly, and walked every button. Then I cut a fresh blade to match her vehicle and tested it at the ignition.

She'd been running on a single key for a while, so we used the opportunity to add a spare while everything was already open and programmed. Both keys left working. The dealer quote was a fixed number she wasn't happy about. What she paid me was a fraction of that, done in her driveway, no tow, no waiting on a parts order.

She said the dealer never once mentioned that the internals could be transferred. I hear that a lot.
