2003 Ford Expedition Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Down at Fisherman's Wharf at the Harbor in Oxnard, a woman had her only key to a 2003 Ford Expedition snap right at the blade pivot. Remote head in one hand, blade fragment stuck in the driver door lock. No spare. She bought the truck used years ago with one key and never got around to making a second.

When I got there, I pulled the broken blade fragment out of the door lock cylinder first. Then I cracked open the remote head shell. The 4D/63 80-bit transponder chip inside was still intact, sitting right where it should be in the OUCD6000022 housing. That was the break she needed, because I could clone the chip data with my VVDI2 instead of running a full all-keys-lost PATS procedure through the OBD-II port, which adds time and cost.
I decoded the lock wafers, cut two fresh 164-R8070 blades, and built a new remote head key with the cloned chip seated in a fresh shell. Programmed the remote, tested all three buttons, cycled the ignition twice to confirm the PATS accepted it cleanly. No theft light flash, engine held idle, doors locked and unlocked from range.
She went from zero working keys to two in about 40 minutes. Kept one in her purse this time.
