Got a call from a woman near the Woolworths Building downtown in Oxnard. Someone lifted her purse off the back of her chair at a restaurant. Keys, wallet, phone, all of it. She borrowed the hostess's phone and called the police, then her husband, then me.

Her 2001 Expedition was sitting in the lot with zero keys. Her husband called the dealer and got the rundown: order a new key, tow the truck in, wait three to five business days. They also recommended rekeying the locks since the stolen key could still physically open the doors. The whole package was going to be a serious number plus the tow.

All-keys-lost on a PATS II Expedition is a different animal than adding a spare. Adding a spare means the car already trusts one key and you piggyback off that trust. AKL means I wipe the entire key memory in the PATS module through the OBD-II port so the stolen key is dead to the engine. I used my IM608 to access the PCM, clear the old transponder IDs, and write two fresh 4C chips from scratch. Then I decoded her door with a Lishi FO38 pick, cut two new blades, and programmed both CWTWB1U331 remotes.

She was still on the phone with the police report when I handed her two working keys. Drove home that night. The stolen key can still turn the lock, but the immobilizer kills the start. That is the part that matters.
