2001 Lexus LX REMOTE-HEAD-KEY Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A body shop near Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura had a 2001 Lexus LX 470 sitting in their lot after a front-end repair. The shop had called another locksmith to cut and program a replacement key. That tech got partway through the procedure, hit a fault during transponder registration, and left. The immobilizer ECU, the 89780-60040 module behind the column, was stuck in a locked state rejecting new key data. The shop was told the next step was a flatbed to the Lexus dealer.

They called me instead.

I pulled the immobilizer module and brought it to my bench. Using the ACDP, I read the EEPROM, cleared the failed registration data, and rebuilt the key table clean. The 4D-68 transponder chip in the HYQ1512V had never actually written to the ECU, so the original attempt just left garbage in the memory. Once I reset it, the new key registered on the first try.

The body shop manager stood there watching the whole bench process on my laptop screen. He asked me to explain what went wrong so his team would know what to tell customers next time. I walked him through it.

Start to finish, about 90 minutes. The dealer alternative was a tow, a multi-day wait, and a bill that would have been a lot more than mine. I carry bench tools for exactly this kind of cleanup job.
