I got a call from a guy parked over at The Collection in Oxnard. He'd already paid a different locksmith to program a replacement smart key for his 2010 Lexus LX. The key had been cut, money had changed hands, and when he turned it over to start the truck, it cranked and immediately died. I cleared the failed entry, ran the full registration sequence with the timer allowed to complete, and verified the fob was permanently enrolled. Three consecutive start cycles, clean every time. I walked him through the door handle touch unlock on both front doors, checked every button on the fob, and showed him the confirmation on my screen.
The dealer quote for the same job was a good chunk more than what I charged, and that didn't include the tow or the wait for a service appointment. He'd already paid the first locksmith on top of all that. At least this time he drove away.
