2004 Lexus LX Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was out in Casitas Springs on a Tuesday when the call came in. Owner of a 2004 Lexus LX, parked off the main road, remote had stopped locking and unlocking. Key still turned and the truck still started, so she wasn't stranded, just annoyed. She'd been using the door lock button inside for a week.
She had the VIN ready when I got there, which I always appreciate. With a working key still in hand, this was an add-a-key job, not an all-keys-lost situation, and that matters a lot on a Lexus this age. I asked her when the remote last worked. She said it got flaky after she replaced the battery. I asked what battery she used. She pulled out the packaging: wrong size, slightly too thick, sitting loose in the cavity.
We tried the correct CR1616 first before I did anything else. Still nothing on the remote functions. At that point I went ahead and cut and programmed a fresh remote head key. Her original key had been working the ignition for twenty years, so keeping that as a backup made sense. I tested lock, unlock, and the third button on both keys before I packed up.
She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a number that made her pause. What she paid me was a fraction of that, and she didn't have to drop the truck off or wait.

“After calling 2 other places EZ Car Keyz answered the call. The tech Timothy that showed up was friendly, informative, told me the issue I was having and had my truck back up and running in 5 minutes. He was even able to come to me on base with me sponsoring him. This is the go to key service for Oxnard.”
