2011 Lexus LX
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: Can you wipe my lost or stolen fob so it can't start the LX anymore?

Yes. When we do a security reset on these, the process clears all previously registered fobs from the vehicle's memory. Only the new keys you authorize get written back in. The old fob, wherever it is, will no longer start the car or operate the locks. Same outcome the dealer would give you, done in your driveway.

Q: Does my 2011 Lexus LX smart key have a hidden emergency blade?

Yes. There is a metal blade folded inside the fob body. There is a small release tab on the side of the housing. Press it and the blade slides out. It fits the driver door lock cylinder and lets you physically get into the car when the battery is dead or the fob is not communicating. If your blade is damaged or missing, we can pull the key code and cut a replacement that matches your locks exactly.

Q: My 2011 LX starts fine but the door handle touch unlock stopped working on one side. Is the fob the problem?

Probably not the fob. If the engine starts and the other handle still responds, the fob is communicating with the vehicle. The touch-sensor unlock on the door handles is handled by sensors built into each handle assembly, and those can fail independently. First thing to check is whether the handle area is clean and dry, since contamination can interfere with the sensor.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my 2011 LX. Can I program it myself?

No. Smart key programming on this vehicle requires professional diagnostic equipment connected to the OBD port. There is no ignition-turn sequence or button combination that will pair a new fob. If you already bought one, it is not wasted, but you still need someone with the right tools to register it. We can program a fob you supply as long as it is the correct application for this vehicle.

2011 Lexus LX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy was parked near the water over in Via Marina in Oxnard, visiting family for a few days, and he wanted a spare smart key made for his 2011 Lexus LX. Not an emergency. Just a practical decision: he had one key, he was traveling, and one key is one bad day away from a real problem.

His main question was whether an aftermarket fob blank was going to hold up the same way an OEM Lexus unit would. He asked it directly, which I respect. He'd heard mixed things.

I told him what I tell everyone: the difference is sourcing, not the concept. Quality aftermarket blanks for this fob are built to the same spec. Same button layout, same weight, same blade profile, same circuit design. The fob I carry for this application is one I've tested across a lot of Lexus and Toyota jobs on the same platform. The only thing missing is the Lexus logo on the housing. He looked at it next to his OEM key for about ten seconds and handed it back to me.

Cut the blade to match his locks, programmed the new fob through the diagnostic port, walked every button, confirmed the door handle touch unlock was working on both sides, confirmed the start button saw the new key. Total time on site was under an hour.

He drove off with two working keys. The dealer route would have meant leaving the LX there, waiting on parts, and paying considerably more. He mentioned that part almost as an afterthought. The key working right was the whole point.

Lexus LX Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

What is the cheapest way to handle all-keys-lost on my 2011 Lexus LX?▼

Call a mobile locksmith before you call the dealer. All-keys-lost on a smart key LX is a real job with real equipment involved, but it does not require a dealer or a tow truck. The process means connecting to the diagnostic port, wiping the existing key memory, and registering new fobs from scratch. We come to your location in Oxnard, do the whole job on site, and the price quoted on the phone is what you pay.
