Down in Channel Islands Beach, a guy visiting his parents over the holidays flagged me about his 2011 LX 570. He wanted a solid daily-carry spare, not some emergency key that sits in a drawer.

When the aftermarket blank is quality sourced and batch tested, daily use is identical. I have done hundreds of these across the LX and Land Cruiser 200 platform and the rejection comes from cheap sourcing, not from the concept of aftermarket itself.
Programmed it through the OBD-II port, registered it to the smart key ECU, cut the emergency insert blade to code, then walked every function. Doors, hatch, panic, push-button start, handle touch lock and unlock on all four doors. He clicked both fobs back to back a few times like he was trying to catch a difference.
The whole job took about 25 minutes on site. He saved a good chunk over what the Lexus dealer quoted him, and he never left his parents' driveway.
