2022 Lexus LX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was out in Victoria Estates on a Tuesday when the call came in. Guy had a 2022 Lexus LX and a story: the key fob had gone completely dark.
No lock, no unlock, nothing. He had already swapped the CR2032 himself, seated it right, and it still would not respond. The push-button start was reading the fob intermittently, sometimes starting the car, sometimes sitting there with a key-not-detected warning on the dash.
When I got there, he walked me through what he had already tried. Fresh battery, correct orientation, contacts looked clean. I opened the fob anyway to check the board myself. The battery contact on the negative side had a very slight outward bow, just enough that the new CR2032 was not making full contact under compression. The battery would measure fine sitting loose but lose connection the moment the case snapped shut.
I set the contact back, reassembled, and ran through every button. Lock, unlock, all four. Then I walked the doors, tested the touch sensors on each handle, and confirmed the start button was reading it cleanly every time. No more intermittent start. No more warnings.
He had been ready to order a replacement fob online and then figure out programming later. That path would have worked eventually, but it was not what he needed. The dealer comparison did not even come up.
