In Wilson, over near the marina parking off Oxnard's waterfront, a guy called me after spending the better part of an afternoon retracing his steps between his boat slip and the lot. His only fob for a 2024 Lexus LX was gone. He had already ruled out the boat, the dock, and every pocket twice. He figured his only move was a tow to the dealer and a multi-day wait.

Then I walked every function: touch unlock on both front handles, the start button, and each of the four buttons on the fob.
He watched the whole thing from about three feet away, which I always prefer. No mystery, no guessing what got done.
Car started in the same lot he thought it was stuck in. Total time from entry to running engine was right around 50 minutes. The dealer would have needed a tow first, then a service appointment, then days. He saved a good chunk and didn't lose the car for a week.
